2012 Blog
Sunday July 1st
I've been here in Kenai for a week now and just yesterday drove the 3hrs to Anchorage and picked up my younger two sons. With the exception of a friend of my middle son who shows up next Saturday, the crew is now complete.
We thought we'd sold our set net operation and bought a commercial gill net boat in anticipation of switching fisheries. This last week I've spent cleaning the bilge of 35yrs worth of grease and sand via a 3" wide putty knife! I've also pulled out lots of 110v appliances that I didn't want to deal with as either 12v or diesel is the way to go with a minimum of fuss.
Now that the boys are here, we start setting up the set net site tomorrow. The commercial hauler is coming at 8:30am to haul our big tractor to the beach and then Tuesday morning, a guy with a backhoe is coming down to move some big rocks that the tide pushed into our boat launching area.
Well then spend the rest of the week moving anchors out into the water and lacing our running lines through the pulleys. Our first day of fishing is Monday July 9th.
For approximately the next two weeks, I will be posting blogs only on Facebook, rather than alldrinsalmon.com. So to continue getting updates of the 2012 fishing season, visit our Facebook page. -Lance
